Tottenham have signed Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland, Harry Redknapp has confirmed.

Chimbonda left White Hart Lane in the summer but failed to settle in the north-east and will now provide Spurs boss Redknapp with cover across his defence.

The 29-year-old Frenchman will not, however, be available for the home Premier League clash against Stoke on Tuesday evening.

"I've signed him and he's coming here," Redknapp said.

"The deal should have been done in the morning but it's over-run the deadline for him to play against Stoke. It was done 15 minutes too late which was disappointing. Otherwise he would have been available."

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Germany Under-20 forward Savio Nsereko from Brescia.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Uganda, has agreed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Hammers after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Nsereko then passed a medical and, subject to international clearance, will make his debut in the Barclays Premier League clash against Hull at Upton Park on Wednesday night.

West Ham chief executive Scott Duxbury told the club's official website: "We are delighted to sign Savio, particularly with the fierce competition for his services across Europe.

"He is an exciting prospect, who Gianfranco Zola believes will prove a valuable asset for this club now and in the years to come.

"It is a significant investment and shows our determination to continue moving this club forward."

L'Arsenal ha ingaggiato Arshavin. Il club di Wenger, avversario della Roma negli ottavi di Champions League, ha raggiunto l'accordo con lo Zenit di San Pietroburgo sulla base di 15 milioni di euro. Il giocatore, che nel prossimo fine settimana sarà a Londra per mettere nero su bianco, non sarà utilizzabile in Champions, dove ha già giocato con lo Zenit nel primo turno. Un pensiero in meno per Spalletti.
