Mark van Bommel returns to PSV
Mark van Bommel returns to PSV. The 35-year-old captain of the Dutch team signed a one-year contract in Eindhoven on Monday night. The midfielder represented PSV between 1999 and 2005 and won four Dutch league titles in those six seasons. He was presented to the press at the Philips Stadion on Monday night.

The reaction of technical director Marcel Brands

Van Bommel joins PSV from AC Milan, where he spent 18 months. “It has taken a long time to finalise the deal”, explains technical director Marcel Brands. “We are delighted to have finally secured the services of such an internationally experienced player, who has a great history with PSV and is the captain of the Dutch national team.”

Van Bommel won four Eredivisie titles with PSV

Mark van Bommel, born in Maasbracht on 22 April 1977, won four Eredivisie titles during his first stint with PSV and won the KNVB Beker one time. After leaving PSV, he had spells with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and then AC Milan, winning league titles with each club. He also won the Champions League, the German Cup and Super Cups in Holland, Spain, Germany and Italy. Van Bommel was a player of the Dutch team that was beaten 1-0 by Spain in the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa. He has won 74 caps and will travel to Switzerland with the Dutch team to prepare for the Euro 2012.
